Automotive LED applications

The use of LED lights in cars and other vehicles has saved countless lives and avoided numerous serious accidents. Almost half the stopping distance in a vehicle under emergency braking is a result of driver reaction time. At 55mph (89kph) the breaking distance is almost four times that required when travelling at 30mph (48kph). Combine these two facts and you have a powerful argument for using LEDs which reach full illumination a quarter of a second faster than incandescent bulbs and therefore in the above scenario would mean that as a result of the quicker illumination time, which then triggers the driver to take action a fraction of a second sooner, the car comes to a halt almost 20 feet sooner.
